Probe abandoned projects, Amanah urges Kelantan PAC

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is calling for the Kelantan Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to probe into several recent revelations about projects in the state.

"Amanah at its core has no desire to meddle in the affairs of the Kelantan state administration. But when these revelations are made, it brings into question and creates a bad perception of the state government among the people," Amanah vice-president Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus said in a statement today.

Among the issues they want the Kelantan PAC to look into are the claims that the Bandar Baru Dabong project has been abandoned.

That project was supposed to complete 48 units of low-cost terrace houses, 196 middle-cost terrace houses, 56 units of twin houses, 106 units of bungalows and 20 units of shophouses.

It was reported previously that the project, which was launched three years ago by former Kelantan menteri besar late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat ( photo ), had been abandoned.

The Kelantan PAC also should look into the failure to collect RM50 million funding for affordable houses for the people in the state, Hasanuddin said, as well as the losses of the company tasked with generating that fund through its 20,000-acre concession area, Kompleks Perkayuan Kelantan (KPK).

He reminded that under Nik Aziz's administration, Kelantan was a state that is considered "bribery-free", despite efforts to paint the late PAS leader in a bad light.

Therefore, for the sake of Nik Aziz's reputation and for the people of Kelantan, Amanah insists on calling for the Kelantan PAC to investigate these matters immediately.
