Lawyers for Liberty executive director Eric Paulsen has sent a letter of demand to youth parliament member Idzham Mohd Hashim Zahrain to remove an allegedly defamatory post against Paulsen on Twitter.

“He has been given 48 hours’ notice to withdraw and apologise, failing which a defamation suit will be filed against him,” Paulsen’s lawyer Latheefa Koya said in a statement today.

She said Idzham’s Twitter post on Sept 16 is malicious and defamatory to Pauslen.

Idzham, through his Twitter account @IAmIdzham, tweeted a picture that was supposed to expose Paulsen for inciting racial sentiments by using a doctored photograph of the Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu rally that took place that day.

“Lowest of scums. What are you trying to do again? Being seditious for fun?” Idzham tweeted in condemning Paulsen.

The image purportedly showed how a banner carried by protesters at last Wednesday's red shirt rally was doctored by Paulsen in a Facebook posting.

The tweet, dated Sept 16, was still on Idzham's timeline as at 1.25pm today.

He defended it when told Paulsen did not make the post, saying that the lawyer still needs to prove his innocence.

Paulsen had on Sept 17 lodged a report at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters, claiming that the picture was a fabrication and falsely attributed to him.
