The Chinese ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang should butt out of domestic politics and apologise for his “unwise” remarks, Umno Youth exco member Arman Azha Abu Hanifah said.

Wisma Putra reportedly summoned Huang , over his remarks made while visiting traditional ethnic Chinese trading area, Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Visiting on the eve of a planned rally by a Malay group there, Huang expressed hopes Malaysia will maintain its stability and not let it be ruined by groups with ulterior motives.

“I want to tell this Chinese envoy that the ones disrupting peace lately are the ethnic Chinese, who provoke and insult Malays and their leaders. This rudeness has incited anger in the majority of Malays.

“Malays always respect the rights of other people, race and religion, but others must also also respect our rights,” Armand Azha said in a statement.

He said Huang should publicly apologise to the Malaysian government and the people of Malaysia over the remark.

Armand also urged China to first deal with alleged human rights abuses against the Uighur community before meddling in others’ affairs.

“Malaysia is a sovereign nation, let her solve her own problems. No one else needs to interfere in her administration,” he said.

The rally by Malay groups was purportedly against the sale of counterfeit goods in the area.

It was aborted after Malay NGO leader and Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos was arrested.

Jamal, who said he was acting as a go-between for protestors and the government cautioned the demonstration could turn into a riot if there is no action on the sale of counterfeit goods.
