PM breaks silence on haze, advises to stay indoors

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak advised the public to reduce outdoor activities due to the current haze in the country.

"I am made to understand that the haze in several states in Malaysia is at unhealthy level," he said in his latest posting on Twitter and Facebook today.

He also advised the public to wear face masks if they needed to carry out activities outdoor.

The haze situation continues to deteriorate with four areas recording very unhealthy readings on the Air Pollutant Index (API) as at 1pm today.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), Shah Alam recorded the highest API at 225, followed by Port Klang (230); Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (241) and Petaling Jaya (207).
