KJ rues judgmental attitude against Muslim women athletes
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has lamented the holier-than-thou attitude of some people against women athletes who are Muslims.
Taking to Twitter , Khairy shared an artwork which recreated photographs on Facebook and their accompanying comments.
The artwork showed a woman in a sleeveless shirt and cap holding up a medal she apparently won in sports.
Tak pasti ciptaan siapa tetapi sangat tepat menceritakan budaya buruk holier-than-thou judgmental Melayu. pic.twitter.com/7ktJ8lXtHV

The accompany comments chastised her with remarks such as "Even if you want to participate in sports, you should wear a headscarf, stupid" and "Aren't you afraid of going to hell?".
This is then contrasted with another woman who is fully covered and likewise held up a medal she had apparently won.
The accompanying comments were derogatory with many guessing the size of her chest.
Focus on achievements instead
While the drawing was a work of fiction, Khairy said it accurately reflected the judgmental mindset of some in the Malay community.
"I am not sure who created this (artwork) but it very accurately tells of the the bad holier-than-thou culture of judgmental Malays," he said.
In June, Malaysian gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi ( photo ) bagged six medals including two gold at the SEA Games 2015 in Singapore.
Instead of praise from the countrymen, some conservatives chastised her for her gymnastic attire which they claimed were "too revealing".
Khairy later defended Farah, stating that her critics should focus on her achievements instead.
"In gymnastics Farah wowed the judges and brought home the gold medal.
"In her deeds only the Almighty judges her. Not you. Leave our athletes alone," he had said.
