PARLIAMENT | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has dismissed the possibility of forming a unity government with archrival Umno.

"UG (unity government) is already history," he told reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat.

Hadi also said PAS was willing to meet members of the government, including Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, to raise the party's concerns over the Goods and Services Tax (GST), weakening ringgit and housing woes.

This new approach will be followed if PAS MPs are unable to voice the problems of the rakyat in Parliament due to time constraints and absence of ministers in the House, he said.

"Our researchers have looked into various issues concerning the people. PAS opposes the GST and we wish to propose an alternative source of revenue for the government.

"PAS takes measures to 'menerang' (explain), not 'menyerang' (attack)," the MP for Marang added.

He also said the Islamic party has now adopted the stance to cooperate with all parties, including those in BN and the opposition.

"We will work with all parties, including DAP, PKR and others. It is incorrect not to work with BN. But we will work together on good things, not on bad things.”

"This is our attitude to solve problems as an opposition party,” he said, noting that PAS wanted to maintain its relationship with the rakyat and not only with MPs.

Hadi has often been accused of wanting to form a unity government with Umno and being supportive of Najib.

"We just want a civilised and ethical democratic process alongside our constitutional monarchy," he pointed out.
