Dewan Negara president chides absent senators

Dewan Negara president Abu Zahar Ujang today chided senators who are not involved in the Umno general assembly 2015 for not attending the Dewan Negara sittings.

"I did give permission for several ministers, who are involved in the assembly, to excuse themselves from attending the sitting, but for those not involved, they must be present because this sitting is more important," Abu Zahar said as soon as the Senate reconvened this morning.

The Umno AGM is being held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). It commenced yesterday and will go one until Saturday.

Abu Zahar said there were some senators who made the Umno assembly as an excuse for not attending Dewan Negara and their action was regrettable.

He also advised all members of the Dewan Negara to be present to debate on the Supply Bill 2016, which is currently being debated.

The Dewan Negara sitting began on Monday and will go on until Dec 22.
