Mohd Ali Baharom, or better known by his nom de guerre Ali Tinju, and 'Gerakan Merah' will gather at the Kota Raya shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
Speaking to Malaysiakini , Mohd Ali said this in relation to a handphone outlet in the complex locking up one of its customers.
The Malay Army Veterans Association president vowed the gathering would be " panas " (hot) like the protest which took place outside Low Yat plaza ( photo ) in July.
"This gathering concerns a shop selling phones which cheated and locked up its customers. We want to see what really happened. This is similar like Low Yat.
"We don't want these traders to cheat people and take the law into their own hands," he said.
Asked what 'Gerakan Merah' plans to do, Ali Tinju replied: "I am confident this will be like Low Yat. But as the leader of Gerakan Merah, I will settle the issue in a civil manner without violence."
Ali Tinju plans to hold the gathering at 4pm today.
He, however, could not confirm the number of participants that would attend the gathering.
“I am confident that many would attend although I am not sure of the numbers.
“But the flow of the gathering could be very panas ,” he added.
Umno-linked Malay broadsheet Utusan Malaysia on Wednesday had reported that a man was locked up in a small room for four hours by unknown men for not wanting to continue with the purchase of several handphones.
The man had reportedly refused to buy four handphones from the shop which cost RM10,000 when the original price is only RM800.
The riots that occurred at Low Yat Plaza in July started after a group of more than 200 gathered in front of the mall to protest the arrest of a man who allegedly had stolen a handphone.
Ali Tinju was instrumental in sparking the protest in that he gathered the people during the riot and even made an incendiary speech to the crowd.
