More flood evacuees return home following fine weather

More flood evacuees returned to their home from relief centres by this afternoon.

The floods in the Dungun district have receded and all the evacuees have returned to their homes.

The Terengganu Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said that as of 4pm, 457 people from 125 families remained at four relief centres in Kemaman.

The weather in the state is fine.

All flood evacuees in Kelantan have returned to their homes as the floodwaters have receded.

The 39 people from 11 families from Kampung Guchil 7 went back to their houses at 11am from the relief centre at the hall of the Kuala Krai Veterinary Office, said Kuala Krai Department of Civil Defence officer Muhamad Hanif Omar.

“The seven people of a family from Kampung Olak Jeram also returned to their home at 11am from the relief centre at the Mesek madrasah,” he told Bernama .

Muhamad Hanif said the two relief centres have been closed.

Meanwhile, all the 51 flood evacuees in Kuantan district have returned to their homes as the floodwaters have receded.

Pahang Department of Civil Defence director Zainal Yusoff said evacuees were from the Kempadang hardcore poor housing settlement in Berjaya Permai.

They had been staying at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kempadang.

“They were allowed to return to their homes at 9am after the floodwaters receded,” he told Bernama .
