An explosion in a popular tourist area of Istanbul left several people injured today, the Turkish news agency DHA reported.

Police cordoned off the area of the Sultanahmet district where the explosion occurred, according to the report.

Further details were not yet available.

The Sultanahmet district is home to the Hagia Sophia museum and Istanbul’s iconic Blue Mosque, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Turkey.
