Pakatan Harapan is opposed to holding a fresh election in Kedah to resolve an Umno revolt against state Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir.

This stance is in contrast to Kedah PAS, which yesterday called for the dissolution of the state assembly and fresh elections to determine whether Mukhriz still commanded support.

Kedah PKR chief Syed Azmin Ismail said Harapan disagrees with the PAS position, since a fresh election would incur heavy costs now, with the country going through an economic downturn.
