Protesters caused a stir at Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s Chinese New Year open house at Bayan Lepas today, demanding answers to claims he received RM1.2 billion from Israel.

The 30 protesters carried placards with the words ‘RM1.2 billion’, outside the SPICE Arena, the New Straits Times reported on its online version.

This came despite Lim repeatedly denying the claims, based on assertions made by former DAP member Mohamed Razali Abd Rahman.

However, a protest leader, NGO Persatuan Mukabuku Pulau Pinang secretary Muhsin Lateef, reportedly said Lim must take legal action on Razali to prove he never took RM1.2 billion from Israel, the NST reported.

Razali, who claimed he once worked as an aide to the CM, said DAP took the funds from Israel in exchange for an Israeli military base in Pennag, if it wins the state in the 2013 general election.

The DAP has led the Penang government for two consecutive terms.

The party has denied the allegation , or that Razali was once an aide to Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general.

DAP said Razali was sacked when he made claims in the media accusing the DAP of being part of a “Christian conspiracy”.
