State BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow is unperturbed over calls for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to investigate if 1MDB funds were used to pay for Korean superstar Psy's performance at BN’s 2013 Chinese New Year open house in Penang.

“Let PAC probe the matter then,” was his brief reply when asked to respond on the matter, which was raised by DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang in a statement yesterday.

“Kit Siang should instruct his MPs in PAC to ask about the 1MDB,” he added.

The two DAP MPs in PAC are deputy chairperson Tan Seng Giaw (Kepong) and member Tony Pua (Petaling Jaya Utara).

However, Teng ( photo ), who is also Gerakan state chief, declined to comment when asked to come clean about the sponsor or sponsors behind the Psy’s consert that year.

He was then responding to Lim who said that the question over Psy’s sponsors has remained unanswered until today.

Lim wants PAC to find the answer to this question before it winds up its investigations on 1MDB as announced by its chairperson Hasan Arifin.

The committee is expected to wrap up its investigation into 1MDB today, after interviewing former president and CEO Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi and former 1MDB chairperson Mohd Bakke Salleh.

Event attended by 30,000 people

Psy’s performance was memorable as it has not turned out in BN’s favour as it was observed on the day that the huge crowd mostly came to see the concert and not Prime Minister Najib Razak and his entourage of BN leaders.

The event was held at the Han Chiang college grounds and was attended by about 30,000 people.

Najib was made to feel embarrassed that day when he asked the crowd "Are you ready for Psy?" the crowd responded loudly “Yes!".

But the crowd at the back shouted “No!” and laughed when Najib had asked “Are you ready for BN?”.

On Feb 14, 2013, Teng said the sponsor for the Psy concert wished to remain anonymous as he does not want to be “victimised”.

Teng said the sponsor was an “old university friend”, while Psy’s management company insisted that the money for the event came from BN and not from public funds.

He was also asked if well-linked wealthy businessman Jho Low had paid for the concert.

“I don’t know who is Jho Low. I only know him by sight,” Teng had said, adding that he read from news reports about the illusive personality who is being sought after by the police for his alleged link to the 1MDB scandal.

Teng was then asked the question as it was learnt that Psy had charged RM1.5 million to perform his four-minute world hit “Oppa Gangnam Style”.
