Papagomo fails to pay RM850k to Anwar, home to be repossessed

The residence of controversial pro-Umno blogger Papagomo or Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris will be repossessed and auctioned off after he was unable to pay RM850,000 in damages to former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, as ordered by the Court of Appeal.

Court officials and Anwar's lawyer Lateefa Koya found the home vacant when they arrived to hand over a writ of residential repossession.

Despite having knocked on the door several times, the officials claimed there was no response.

"We will return to hand over this writ and acquire a new date from the court," said Latheefa to reporters outside Villa Danau Apartment today.

In December last year, the appellate court dismissed his appeal against the quantum and decision by the Kuala Lumpur High Court which found him to have committed libel.

The Court of Appeal had ordered him to pay Anwar RM800,000 in damages and RM50,000 in costs.

Wan Muhammad Azri had put up lewd images of Anwar with another man just before the 13th general election. Subsequently, the PKR de facto leader filed a suit for RM100 million.

The currently jailed opposition leader alleged that four posts featured on Wan Muhammad Azri's blog implied he was immoral and unqualified to hold public office.

Anwar also said the blog had damaged his reputation and caused suffering to him and his family.
