The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today received RM14.74 million in business zakat (tithe) on behalf of the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) from Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

The sultan received the business zakat for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015 and it was the highest amount paid by TH compared to other states.

TH was represented by its managing director and chief executive officer Ismee Ismail at the presentation ceremony at Istana Bukit Kayangan in Shah Alam.

Present were LZS chairperson Syed Anwar Syed Jamalullail and Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairperson Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa.

TH in a statement said, for 2015 business zakat, TH received payment amounting to RM59.3 million compared to RM57 million in 2014, in line with TH’s strong financial position despite global economic uncertainty.
