In view of the scorching and blazing hot weather, it comes as no surprise that Malaysians are looking at ways to bring the heat down.

Online marketplace 11street has reported an increase of nearly 480 percent in searches for various cooling items, which include air coolers, car tint and water dispensers as the current hot spell show no signs of subsiding.

11street CEO, Hoseok Kim, said in a statement issued here that consumers were searching for products on online marketplace to keep the heat down not just at home but also when they were out and about.

As the current heat wave penetrates through every type of material known to houses, consumers have been looking for portable cooling units that are easy to shift around. Thus it is not surprising to see air coolers listed among the most popular searches.

Many have been looking for air-conditioners as well to stay cool and comfortable. It was through key word search that many were looking at a particular air-conditioner model.

When it is hot, there is less moisture in the air because intense heat will evaporate water before it has the chance to cool the room. This in turn will cause the rooms to become dry leading to problems like skin irritation.

Thus it is not surprising to see a fan with an inbuilt humidifier, diffuser and purifier being among the hot searches in the South Korean-based online marketplace.

Keeping cool outdoors

Malaysians spend a lot of time in their cars especially when stuck in a traffic jam. The car air-conditioning can only do so much before the heat starts to get to the occupants. The heat will penetrate the car through every opening and through every clear window.
