Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday.

1MDB board's resignation accepted

The Minister of Finance Incorporated (MOF Inc) has confirmed the acceptance of the resignation of 1MDB’s board of directors in the wake of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report, though president Arul Kanda Kandasamy would remain in his role until further notice.

MOF Inc has also agreed to fully implement recommendations by the PAC, such as the dissolution of the 1MDB board of advisers, the removal of Article 117 and changing all references of ‘prime minister’ to ‘minister of finance’ in the fund's memorandum and articles of association.

Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) executive director Cynthia Gabriel, however, argued the removal of Article 117 from 1MDB’s memorandum and articles of association does not absolve Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak from being responsible in the company’s transactions.

IGP confirms Dr M outriders withdrawn

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has confirmed that he ordered the police outrider service for ex-PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be withdrawn because his men should not be involved in events attended by the former premier which contravened the law and Federal Constitution, such as rallies and demonstrations.

PKR lawmaker N Surendran said such factors are irrelevant to the consideration of whether the former premier is entitled to the police escort. He roundly criticised Khalid for ordering the withdrawal of the police outriders.

Khalid responded that if Surendran thought that he erred in withdrawing outriders for Mahathir, the MP can take the issue to court.
