PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has accused DAP of providing certain members of the Islamic party with "liquor" (arak), which led to the formation of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

The Pasir Mas MP said this when responding to allegations from DAP leaders that he was arrogant.

According to Nik Abduh, DAP is so blinded with arrogance that it fails to see its own shortcomings.

"I wish to ask, who started attacking the PAS president (Abdul Hadi Awang) first? DAP!

"Who broke up PAS to the point that some drunk members moved to Amanah.

"DAP gave the 'arak' until they formed Amanah. That is a sign DAP is arrogant," Nik Abduh told a press conference on the sidelines of the PAS Youth muktamar in Kota Bharu.

‘Seat loan just a figure of speech’

When asked to comment on DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke’s statement that questioned which seats did PAS loan the party in the last general election, Nik Abduh said it was just a ‘figure of speech’.

Yesterday, the PAS Youth chief had proposed that PAS contest the seats ‘lent’ to DAP and PKR while it was still in Pakatan Rakyat.

“There are no lending seats in the election, every party has a right to all the seats. I was just speaking figuratively.

“I salute YB Loke because he speaks good Bahasa Malaysia, but he should learn figurative speech.

“What I meant was the seats that PAS had contested, signify that we have built a power base there,” he said.

Win or lose, what’s important is that PAS contested against DAP in a three-cornered contest, Nik Abduh added.

“When we do not contest, we are giving way to DAP or PKR. Now, we start thinking about utilising the power base we have built.

“But I did not say to take back all (the seats), we are still in the discussion stage. We have asked the PAS central committee to see that the seats we want to contest in, is considered via the strength of our machinery in each of these areas,” he said.
