A janitor at a KTM Komuter station has been sacked for allegedly making a rude gesture towards several members of the Independent Living & Training Centre Malaysia (ILTC) group.

“I have already terminated the operator, replacing her with another person to work there,” Nor Azni Ibrahim, a representative from the KTM Khairat Kematian Charitable Association, told Malaysiakini when contacted.

Nor Azni was commenting on ILTC's protest at the Rawang KTM station on Tuesday, on the staff's alleged mistreatment and the toilet that is inaccessible to the disabled (OKU).

He said KTM's management had entrusted Khairat Kematian Charitable Association to handle various matters, including the tender for toilet operations at the Rawang and Kuang stations.

“The toilet can only be used for the short term. We will provide water inside for the disabled to use because the water pressure has not yet been fixed,” Nor Azni said.

He admitted that they had no budget to repair the toilet for now.

Nor Azni added that he was unhappy with the group for allegedly throwing around items stored in the toilet.

“The OKU made a lot of requests. You see from the pictures, they threw my things, all the soaps were thrown out,” he said.

“They provoked my operator until she ran away and asked them what else did they want. They said they wanted to take a picture.

"So my operator agreed and allowed them to take a picture of her backside."

On June 7, ILTC president Francis Siva claimed that a KTM staff had rudely turned around, bent over and thrust her rear at a camera held by one of the organisation's members.

He said she did this when representatives of the organisation requested she unlock the disabled toilet on June 6.

They had visited the station on Monday following complaints about the toilet from a fellow wheelchair-using individual.

A spokesperson from KTM's management was not immediately available for comment.
