K KANGSAR POLLS It is not PAS but Dr Mahathir Mohamad who eats 'dedak' (animal feed) responded the Islamic party, to the former premier's accusation that it mellowed from attacking Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak after being fed animal feed.

“The one who eats dedak is him (Mahathir) and his cronies. It’s only now that he realised that others, too, eat dedak.

“He was the one who started the culture of giving dedak in Umno and to the rakyat, now he wants to say that others eat dedak,” said PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party's operations centre in Kuala Kangsar today, Idris pointed out that PAS condemned both Najib and Mahathir equally.

The PAS leader hit out that Mahathir is not qualified to talk about reform as the country’s many present problems stemmed from his legacy, citing how the country’s judiciary was "destroyed" by the country’s longest serving premier.

“All these things involving cronies started from him,” added Idris.

Mahathir today said that people who supported Najib either do not know what is happening, or they have dedak in their mouths.

He also said PAS is now courting Umno as it requires support after being left as a stand-alone party.

On Mahathir who declared his support for Amanah, Idris said anyone is free to support whoever he or she wants to in a democracy.

“But there’s no reason for him to attack PAS. Right now the battle is strange, we see the opposition attacking each other,” he said.

Meanwhile, Idris expressed his confidence that those who are protesting against Najib will opt for PAS.

“Especially those among Umno members and even the Chinese, the ones we have met think that PAS is a party with integrity and principles.

“Our candidate is a medical doctor, a professional, so this has rejected the notion that we (PAS) reject professionals,” he said.

PAS’ Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad is facing BN’s Mastura Mohd Yazid , Amanah's Ahmad Termizi Ramli and Independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary in a four-way tussle for the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat.

The seat fell vacant after the demise of its incumbent Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad in a helicopter crash during campaigning for the Sarawak state polls last month.
