Dr M: I explained Najib’s wrongdoings to Hadi, but he only saw 'dedak'

K KANGSAR POLLS Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today revealed that he had met PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to explain about Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s alleged ‘wrongdoings’.

“I had explained personally to Hadi about Najib’s wrongdoings but what he saw was dedak (animal feed),” said Mahathir to laughter from the some 300 attendees of an event organised by Pakatan Harapan in Kuala Kangsar today.

Asked to explain what he meant in a press conference later, Mahathir said he was unsure whether Hadi had actually ‘eaten’ the animal feed or otherwise.

“But to say that he does not know about Najib’s wrongdoings is impossible because I had given a thorough explanation on the matter,” he said.

Among them, Mahathir said he had explained about the formation of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and the subsequent alleged misuse of the state investment arm’s funds.

“These were the things that I had explained to Hadi and he admitted that there was some truth in it when he met me.

“But in the end, because he is now alone and PAS no longer has allies, that's why he is fighting on the side of Najib,” he added.

PAS’ current struggle, he said, was merely to assist Najib.

The country's longest serving prime minister is currently in Kuala Kangsar in support of Pakatan Harapan’s candidate Ahmad Termizi Ramli.

Urging for support to be given to the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) candidate, Mahathir admitted that the government could not be changed through the by-election but that it was significant to show Najib how much ‘he is hated by the rakyat’.

Mahathir, while in Sungai Besar yesterday, said that people who supported Najib either did not know what was happening, or had dedak in their mouths.

He also said PAS was courting Umno as it required support after being left as a stand-alone party.

PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad however hit back at Mahathir for stating that PAS had been fed with dedak, pointing out that the culture of giving dedak started from him.
