Action will be taken against Umno members who revolt against the supreme council's move to sack Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz Mahathir from the party, said Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He warned similar action would be taken against those protesting the suspension of Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal.

"We are scrutinising and observing the unrest in Semporna and Pagoh, where there are members who are unhappy with the Umno supreme council's decision.

"If their actions do not reflect the ethical code of an Umno member that truly fights for religion, race and country, but instead for certain individuals, then we will not hesitate to take action against them," he was quoted as saying in Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia.

Umno divisions in Pagoh and Semporna have rejected the Umno supreme council's decision, sparking mass resignations in protest.

Pagoh Umno was led by Muhyiddin until his sacking while Semporna Umno is led by Shafie.

Action was taken against the trio last Friday on disciplinary grounds. All three have been staunch critics of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's handling of the 1MDB scandal and the multi-billion ringgit deposits in his personal bank accounts.

Najib claimed the money was a donation and denied ever taking public funds for personal gain.

On a separate matter, Tengku Adnan also urged people not to speculate over Finance Minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah's resignation from the government and all political posts.
