DAP will not be probing its Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming as the party has accepted his denial that he had made insensitive remarks on Facebook.
 
“We accept his explanation that he has denied (making the Facebook postings),” DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke told reporters outside the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters today.
 
Loke added that police reports had been lodged against Nga and that the authorities were free to probe the lawmaker.
 
Earlier, the Seremban MP and several DAP leaders lodged a police report over a demonstration held at the party’s headquarters yesterday.
 
The protesters had accused Nga of disrespecting Islam in a Facebook posting on Hari Raya Aidilfitri, but the parliamentarian has denied making the posting.
 
The post was of a caricature of children and guests receiving Aidilfitri ‘duit raya’ cash packets, likening it to receiving dedak or bribery.
 
Police, meanwhile, have summoned Nga to record his statement in Bukit Aman next week.
 
Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar had confirmed Nga was under probe for sedition.
 
The Perak DAP chief, on the other hand, earlier today lodged a police report at the Ipoh police district headquarters claiming that he is a victim of slander in the issue.
