A small group of protestors gathered at Komtar today, urging Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to clean up Penang and himself first, before supporting election watchdog Bersih 5.

Representing NGO Persatuan Kebajikan Insan Mulia, Aminah Abdullah said: "Let there be no more Bersih or yellow t-shirts."

The group of not more than 10, were outnumbered by reporters who were expecting more excitement outside the Maybank, the spot where anti-Guan Eng rallies are usually held.

"Everywhere we go, we see Bersih and yellow, we are fed-up already, what is there to clean in the EC?

"Guan Eng should clean himself up first before leading Bersih in Penang," said the former PKR Penang Wanita chief.

After her brief speech, Aminah handed over a two-paged memorandum and a broom wrapped up as a gift, to an official from Lim's office.

The broom was a symbolic and sarcastic gesture asking Lim to clean up the state before supporting Bersih, whose main aim is for clean elections.

Lim had launched a Bersih photo exhibition at the Town Hall on Monday, and the Bersih torch was handed to him by the coalition's chairperson, Maria Chin Abdullah.

Bersih is on a nationwide convoy to gather supporters for a mega-rally in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 19.

It has also called on Prime Minister Najib Razak to quit his post over financial scandals involving 1MDB.
