Tajuddin's supporters arrested

Police arrested supporters of Umno's Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for attempting to attack Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad on Parliament grounds after only one woman heeded police call to surrender.

Tajuddin refused to comment on the police action against his son Firdaus, who was part of the rowdy group, and instead criticised the media for harping on the issue.

Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor tried to distance the party from the incident.

Penang Umno attacks Zunar's exhibition

A group led by Penang Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim attacked Zunar's cartoon exhibition at Komtar.

They then lodged a police report against Zunar and the Penang government, warning that they would use force to halt the exhibition, which depicts cartoons lampooning key national figures.

Gerakan Youth deputy chief Andy Yong expressed concern over the attacks on Parliament grounds and at Komtar, urging BN to take action.

Maria's requests granted

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah's requests for a mattress, pillow and Quran while in detention have been granted.

However, Khalid warned that police may take action against the ‘Free Maria’ nightly vigils in Dataran Merdeka.

Maria's father Chin Kee Kong, in an interview with Malaysiakini, said he was hopeful that she would be released soon.
