On Nov 16, Murat had tracked down members of the wanted ‘Geng Kapak’, who had fled into the jungle to evade a police dragnet.

Due to the eight-year-old’s efforts, the police managed to apprehend two suspects.

According to the PDRM Facebook page, the German Shepherd and his trainer received medals, with the words ‘Jasamu dikenang’ for their accomplishment.

Murat and his trainer lance corporal Hardin Ng Kang are from the K9 unit of the Segamat district police headquarters.

The pair were awarded their medals by Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd at the state contingent police headquarters.
