Former Royal Malaysian Air Force captain Abdul Rahman Haniff has urged the police to expedite its investigations on purported Open Society Foundations (OSF) documents leaked by the DC Leaks website.

In a report lodged with the Jalan Tun Razak police station today, Abdul Rahman claimed that one document had named Malaysiakini chief executive officer Premesh Chandran as a member of Open Society Foundations’ (OSF) Malaysia Advisory Committee.

"As a citizen of a sovereign nation, I am very concerned about this and urge the authorities to conduct investigations and take appropriate action against the Malaysian individuals named in this document.

"Malaysiakini's tendency to spin news strengthens my suspicions, and I don't want this country to become what has happened to Ukraine," said Abdul Rahman, who is the son of former inspector-general of police Haniff Omar, in his report.

In an immediate response, Premesh denied Abdul Rahman's allegations.

"I have not seen this document before, nor was I part of any discussions on 'shared frameworks', nor was I the chair of any committee related to OSF," said Premesh.

The DC Leaks website, allegedly run by hacker groups, was best known for releasing thousands of emails by US lawmakers and government officials earlier this year.

Since June, the website DC Leaks have been releasing documents which they claim was retrieved from groups in which billionaire George Soros had an interest, such as OSF, an international grant-making group.

After it was revealed that one such document detailed OSF's work in Malaysia, local authorities have been aggressively pursuing groups suspected of receiving funds from OSF and engaging in activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
