1MDB bailout fears

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has questioned whether taxpayers will have to foot the US$1.2 billion deal as part of a settlement between 1MDB and Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company.

1MDB is reported to be on the verge of signing a settlement with IPIC for the US$1.2 billion amount and will engage in further negotiations for another US$3.5 billion owned to IPIC.

Observers said a possible settlement may weaken the US Department of Justice's efforts to prosecute in the 1MDB scandal which saw funds laundered through the US financial system.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has filed a second defamation suit against Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua over a video the prime minister's lawyer said implied he had committed theft and abuse and power.

Football Association of Malaysia president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the Johor crown prince, gave MACC a list of names to "monitor" in the wake of a match-fixing scandal.

PKR in East M'sia wants tougher stance than Anwar's

Nasrudin also criticised Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam for speaking out against controversial preacher Zakir Naik.
