DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang's decision to endorse Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice-president Husam Musa as Kelantan's next menteri besar has continued to receive attention from PAS.

Perak PAS Youth chief Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin said that Kit Siang's endorsement showed that the latter appears to be the largest voice in Pakatan Harapan and was acting "like a boss". 

"If Husam and Kit Siang have any dignity, they should name the candidate for the Penang chief minister's post since Lim Guan Eng's position is considered untenable following a corruption scandal," said Mohd Akmal in a statement today.

He also criticised Husam for challenging PAS to name its candidate for Kelantan menteri besar and that this was an insult to the latter's former mentor Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat. 

Since the time when Nik Abdul Aziz led Kelantan PAS, said Mohd Akmal, the party had never named a candidate for the state's chief executive seat.

"This shows that Lim and Husam have more similarities with their haste and overenthusiasm in coming out with such statements," he said.

PAS, said Mohd Akmal, would never use such methods and will continue with the Islamic traditions set by former party president Fadzil Mohd Noor, Nik Aziz and present party president Abdul Hadi Awang.

"This type of politics brings benefit to this world and the hereafter," he said.

Meanwhile, PAS Kelantan information chief Nasaruddin Daud said Kit Siang's had effectively killed off Husam's political career with the endorsement.

Nasaruddin's assessment was based on Umno's decision to tout Awang Adek Hussin as their candidate for Kelantan menteri besar during the 2008 general election. Awang Adek lost the contest for Perupok by a narrow margin.

"PAS is not threatened. For me, I would like to thank the DAP for the announcement. In Umno's case, they mentioned their own leader, but DAP's endorsement of Amanah brings a bigger negative impact," he said, according to Sinar Harian today.
