Suhaizan gets a discharge on a count of organising rally

Former PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kayat was today granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal by the Johor Baru Sessions Court, for a charge of organising a rally five years ago.

Sessions Judge Mohd Fauzi Nasir granted the application by Suhaizan's lawyer Faiz Fadzil, for his client to be granted a discharge, as the case was slated for a hearing today.

Faiz made the application citing a technicality in the charge.

Suhaizan, who is currently Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) organising secretary, was charged with organising the "Himpunan Tanah Rakyat" rally without giving proper 10 days notice at Plaza Angsana, Jalan Padi Emas 1, Tampoi in Johor Baru Utara between 1:30 pm and 4:15 pm on May 5, 2012.

He faced a maximum RM10,000 fine upon conviction.

DPP Suhail Sapun appeared for the prosecution.
