Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is scheduled to visit Permatang Pauh, which is the stronghold of jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, tomorrow.

According to reports, the premier is slated to attend a record breaking feast where 20,000 to 25,000 people are expected to attend to dine while sitting cross-legged or duduk bersila.

Permatang Pauh Umno chief Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said the public is invited to join Najib to feast on nasi kandar and traditional Malay cuisine to set a national record from 10am to 3pm at Politeknik Seberang Perai.

However, PKR Youth is planning to serve a flash mob instead.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, Penang PKR Youth chief Asrul Sani Abdul Razak said the flash mob will be held outside the polytechnic.

He said the group wanted to highlight Anwar's incarceration, which the opposition claims was based on a fabricated charge.

“We are not looking for a fight.

“We just want to hold placards that read, 'Bebaskan Anwar Segera' (Free Anwar Now),” he added.

Asrul Sani said the flash mob, expected to number around 30 people, will gather at a petrol station opposite the polytechnic at 9am before proceeding to the event venue.

Najib is expected to arrive at 11am.

At present, Anwar's wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is the MP for Permatang Pauh.

Anwar is serving a five-year sentence for a sodomy conviction. The government has denied that the case was based on trumped up evidence.
