As the mutiny in Kelantan PKR continues, its embattled leader Ab Aziz Ab Kadir remains reluctant to recognise the ongoing efforts to unseat him.

At a function in Machang, Kelantan, yesterday, Ab Aziz lashed out at a local party leader who attempted to hand a petition seeking his ouster to PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin.

According to Ahmad Syauqey Abdul Ghani, Ab Aziz had called him "gila (mad)" after Ahmad Syauqey attempted to deliver the document.

"I am shocked. I am just the messenger. My job was to submit the grouses of party members on the Kelantan PKR leader," he said.

Ahmad Syauqey said Ab Aziz, as the state PKR leader, should lend his members an ear, rather to dismiss them and call them "mad".

PKR state leaders are appointed by the party's central leadership council. The party's constitution allows for state chapters to seek the appointment of a new leader if a specific number of members submit a petition expressing such an intent.

It is understood that the petition from the Kelantan PKR members states that those who signed it had lost confidence in Ab Aziz's leadership.

According to Ahmad Syauqey, he had handed the document to Zuraida when she was in the passenger seat of a vehicle, while Ab Aziz was sitting in front.

Zuraida was in Machang to attend a major Pakatan Harapan event, which was attended by top coalition leaders. Zuraida had represented PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at the event.

When contacted, Ab Aziz confirmed that he had hurled the word "gila" towards Ahmad Syauqey and dismissed the petition as a "poison-pen letter".

"Yes, I was angry. I was in the car with Zuraida. He tried to submit a memorandum or poison-pen letter. So I said such an act was mad.”

When asked about the content of the document, Ab Aziz said it was similar to the "poison-pen letter" being circulated by their rivals.

In a related development, Kelantan PKR Youth deputy chief Mohamad Roslan Puteh confirmed that he had submitted a letter to the party leaders on his wish to resign from his position.

"I can't say more because the party headquarters has not made a decision (about my letter)," said Roslan, who is the sole PKR member in the Kelantan legislative assembly.

It is understood that, like Ab Aziz, Kelantan PKR Youth chief Hafidz Rizal Amran is also facing a revolt from the party’s Youth members in the state.
