Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said the “harassment and intimidation” against Universiti Selangor (Unisel) and Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) is due to jealousy of what the state government has managed to achieve.

“Because all these successes (of the Selangor state government), a lot of people are jealous and tried to harass and intimidate me and the state government,” he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today.

Among the successes of Selangor that caused this jealousy, he said, include the strong unity within the state administration that involves parties given the mandate in the 13th general election and now with our new friends in Pakatan Harapan.

“A lot of people are also jealous of the success by Selangor in handling the economy and finances in a proper and transparent way that is full of integrity,” he added.

The MACC had raided Unisel and four other places related to Unisel, MBI and Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd last Tuesday.

MACC’s actions are believed to be based on a report lodged against Azmin and MBI over a dispute between Unisel and Jana Niaga.

Jana Niaga allegedly received monetary compensation despite failing to fulfill its contract with Unisel.

MBI has claimed however that the payment to Jana Niaga was made following court arbitration. It also threatened to sue anyone who accused it of corruption relating to the payment.

Azmin also said today that they will cooperate with the MACC on all matters related to the investigation.
