Police detain 93 in ‘Ops Tapis’ T’gganu drug raid

The police have arrested 93 people, including five Thai nationals, during a six-day integrated operations called “Ops Tapis” that ended yesterday.

Besut district police chief, Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said they were detained on suspicion of being drug addicts and traffickers.

Those detained were aged between 17 and 59, with 75 of them held at the Besut district police headquarters lockup, while 18 others at the Bandar Permaisuri IPD lockup, in Setiu, Zamri told a press conference in Besut, Terengganu today.

Zamri said during the operations, which also involved the National Anti-Drugs Agency, the police also seized 211 pills, believed to be drugs, 11.14gm of heroin, 4.5 litres of ketum juice and 0.39 litres of codeine.

The police also seized a machete, knife and scythe that were found inside a car, which was believed to be stolen.
