Johor Harapan's battle lines drawn; Guan Eng takes dig at tunnel critics

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Johor Harapan's battle lines drawn

Johor Harapan has allocated 18 seats to Bersatu, 14 to DAP, 12 to PKR, and 12 to Amanah.

An analysis of the seat allocations shows that half of Bersatu's seats are mixed seats that could ensure victory for the fledgling party.

Former Bersatu leader Kamarulazman Habibur Rahman claimed the party had wanted Muhyiddin Yassin to be prime minister before Dr Mahathir Mohamad hijacked the party.

Bersatu supreme council members denied this, saying Mahathir had always been their only choice for the premiership.

Guan Eng takes a dig at tunnel critics

New Straits Times cited unnamed sources alleging kickbacks had been given to “key politicians” in the Penang tunnel project.

Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng dismissed the claims as "desperate lies".

Lim also said anyone, including MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong and even Prime Minister Najib Razak, could invest in the project without harming its liability.

Other Kinibites

Bersih called for a probe against Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid for allegedly threatening teachers who support the opposition.

Mahdzir's office however denied the allegations, and said the minister was only giving "fatherly advice".

Pakatan Harapan’s Sarawak manifesto pledges that the state will retain 50 percent of all tax revenues collected in the state and 20 percent of the oil and gas royalties.

Looking ahead

PAS will be holding a Fastaqim 2.4 gathering in Shah Alam today.
