The MACC has found no basis for the corruption allegations against Johor Menteri Besar Khaled Nordin, according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Paul Low.

“MACC has investigated the information received on Khaled but found that it has no basis,” he said in a written reply in parliament dated March 21.

He was responding to a question by Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) on whether MACC had conducted the investigation, and if so, what is the status of the investigation.

The issue arose after Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub’s witness statement to the MACC was leaked online. He was arrested and charged last year alongside former Johor exco member Abdul Latif Bandi for alleged money laundering and graft.

In the leaked statement, Amir purportedly claimed that Khaled and several others had received millions from developers to remove Bumiputera restrictions from certain housing projects.

Khaled had denied the allegations in December last year.
