S'GOR DUN | A heated exchange occurred in the state assembly this morning when state exco Amiruddin Saari (PKR-Batu Caves) accused the management of the state football team of politicising issues surrounding its demand to use the Shah Alam Stadium.

"The main issue is that they are using this as a political capital and there are BN agents within the Football Association of Selangor (who are) attacking the state government.

"So go to hell with them! We (the state government) have our own plans to develop football," said Amiruddin in response to Budiman Mohd Zohdi (BN-Sungai Panjang) during question time.

Budiman earlier questioned Amiruddin, who is state exco in charge of sports development, on steps taken to resolve the ongoing tussle between FAS and the state government over the use of the Shah Alam Stadium.

Budiman repeatedly urged Amiruddin to calm down and insisted that his question should be answered in a proper manner, with the state entering into a discussion with the management of FAS on the issue.

Amiruddin earlier said the state was open to discussions, but the latest letter he had received from FAS secretary-general Rosman Ismail indicated a rejection of the offer by the team, nicknamed the Red Giants.

Earlier this month, FAS president Subahan Kamal reportedly said that the issue could only be resolved through a meeting between him and Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

At the time, Subahan said FAS had attempted to engage with Amiruddin over a year ago, but to no avail.

In February, Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar said the state government had turned the football team into refugees in their own state.

He also said the Selangor football team had to push aside their intention to use the Shah Alam Stadium as its official venue for the Malaysian Super League.
