Dr Mahathir Mohamad appeared amused when he learned that the iconic Petronas Twin Towers was missing from a photograph of the Kuala Lumpur skyline featured in the BN manifesto.

When asked to comment on the doctored photo, the former premier smiled as Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman explained the issue, and then finally let out a laugh.

“I don't think they are very smart. I would like to ask them not to stand near water, because if you erase your face also we can still see yourself in the water.

“But there would be a lot of things. I am told that there was a picture of me and (DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang) with the 'rocket' in the middle. Of course, this is propaganda,” he told a press conference in Petaling Jaya this afternoon.

BN had launched its manifesto on Saturday, but a picture of the Kuala Lumpur skyline on Page 17 of the manifesto appeared to have Petronas Twin Towers removed.

Nevertheless, a reflection of the iconic building that is seen as Mahathir’s brainchild was still visible in the lake in the foreground of the picture.

Netizens had spotted this and questioned whether this was meant to remove Mahathir’s legacy.

Meanwhile, Mahathir warned that there will be other propaganda to come.

As an example, he said the picture of him and Lim appeared to portray as though he would be under DAP’s thumb, although the Pakatan Harapan coalition had already decided that Mahathir will be its chairperson and favoured candidate for premiership.
