GE14 | BN Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin says even though polling day for the 14th general election falls on a Wednesday, voters still have about a month to prepare.

"Even though polling day is on a Wednesday, it has happened before.

"I hope voters understand their responsibility because they have been given a month's notice. Therefore people should be able to vote.

"If they are tied down with work, they should remind their employer about the law that allows them time off to vote," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.

He was speaking at a press conference after the launch of the BN Youth manifesto today.

Earlier today, the Election Commission announced that polling day will take place on May 9.

The opposition had accused the EC of holding polling day in the middle of the week to suppress voter turnout.

However, caretaker deputy home minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed pointed out that Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad had done the same when he was the prime minister.
