GE14 | Caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak today warned the people of Teluk Intan that a "creature", who was both arrogant and had a penchant for creating fake news, was coming their way.

"I want to give an example of fake news. This has to do with that makhluk (creature) who has offered himself to Teluk Intan," said Najib, during the PR1MA groundbreaking event in Teluk Intan today.

This was an obvious reference to Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming, who has been confirmed as Pakatan Harapan's candidate for Teluk Intan, where he will take on Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong.

In 2016, Najib had secured Nga's retraction of a statement implying that the caretaker premier's wife Rosmah Mansor attends cabinet meetings.

In his speech today, Najib accused Nga of peddling fake news at the time and explained that the photograph used by the latter was one which depicted Rosmah and several government officials at a hotel room in Beijing.

"We were in our hotel room to discuss how we could finish up our work in Beijing so we could return home and pay our respects to the late Sultan Azlan Shah.

"We were in the room and my wife was there because she often follows me on official visits.

"When the photograph was published, that creature accused my wife of attending cabinet meetings. Can you imagine that? Fake news! A lie! Slander!

"From that photograph, (you can tell) that it is a small room... It doesn't look like the cabinet meeting room in Putrajaya," said Najib.

Najib said it took a lot of effort before securing Nga's compliance.

"How can we accept politics from this sort of people? We can't let him represent Teluk Intan. Tak boleh!"

In contrast, Najib was full of praise for Mah, whom he described as a hardworking and humble person with the interest of Teluk Intan folks at heart.

"He doesn't say much, but works hard. He always prioritises Teluk Intan folks. I can confirm that he regularly sees me for help," said Najib.

Teluk Intan is set to be at least a three-way fight.
