GE14 | Pakatan Harapan has come under major attacks via scam phone calls and emails, while its social media accounts were hacked and party organs down.

Among the leaders affected are PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Azmin said his handphone, emails and Facebook were hacked before 6am today.

Meanwhile, DAP's party organ Roketkini and Invoke Malaysia, founded by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, were also down.

Earlier today, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil had warned that major attacks are underway aimed at Harapan leaders and candidates.

The Lembah Pantai candidate complained that he had received many phishing emails and phone calls, as reported by Penang DAP earlier.

"This was meant to affect our line of communication, especially among the leaders," Fahmi said.

Other Harapan leaders and candidates whose social media and contact details have reportedly been hacked included Zairil Khir Johari, Elizabeth Wong, Chang Lih Kang, Lee Boon Chye and Kerk Chee Yee.

PSM's Sungai Siput candidate Dr Michael Devaraj Jeyakumar is also reportedly facing the same problem.

Zamri Maulan, the press secretary to Parti Warisan Sabah president Mohd Shafie Apdal, also complained of having received numerous calls from purportedly US-based numbers.

“I’ve been receiving the calls since 7am, every few minutes,” he told Malaysiakini.

When asked whether Shafie had also received such calls, Zamri replied in the negative, pointing out how only a handful of people knew Shafie’s phone number.

Fahmi said he would lodge a report with the Communications and Multimedia Commission later today.

"Come on, MCMC, do something," he said.

BN affected too

The attacks have seemingly affected politicians from the other side of the political divide as well.

BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak has condemned the “spam calls” directed at several members of his party.

Taking to Twitter, Najib said multiple BN’s websites have also become inaccessible.

“I thoroughly condemn the ‘spam call’ tactic received by many BN leaders from international numbers. The phones affected by such ‘spam’ have not been able to function as usual.

“Also, many BN websites can’t be accessed. I have instructed that immediate action be taken,” he tweeted earlier today.

Among the BN leaders said to be affected are Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, caretaker ministers Abdul Rahman Dahman, Azalina Othman Said and Salleh Said Keruak, as well as Gerakan secretary-general Liang Teck Meng.
