PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said that he will not be taking up any role in the new federal government for now.

In a series of tweets today, Rafizi revealed that he has already set sights on the next general election and is preparing Pakatan Harapan's campaign for Terengganu - his home state.

Terengganu and Kelantan were the only two states where Harapan was unable to win any seat during the recently concluded general election.

"As a politician, I will focus on winning Terengganu for Harapan in the next GE. I will not take up a role in government for the time being," he wrote.

Rafizi was replying to a Twitter user who asked what role he and Invoke Malaysia - that think-tank that he leads - would currently play.

As for Invoke Malaysia, he said the group would focus on "empowering Malaysia".

Another Twitter user had told Rafizi that he would be a fit for the Putrajaya's Public Complaints Bureau, but the latter said that there are other suitable people for the job.

"I politely decline. It was difficult to do what I did when we were in opposition, but it was a necessity then.

"Now Harapan is in government, there are plenty of people who can and want to become ministers," he wrote.

Rafizi could not defend his Pandan parliamentary seat during the May 9 elections due to a previous conviction for breaching the Banking and Financial Institutions Act 1989.

However, he, through Invoke Malaysia, provided logistic support for Harapan candidates while conducting public asset declaration exercises and regular opinion polls.

Invoke Malaysia was the only pollster to predict that Harapan would win the elections.
