HSR scrapped

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad confirmed that Putrajaya has decided to ditch the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project and the penalty will around RM500 million for cancelling the deal with Singapore.

On suggestions that he be considered for this year's Nobel Peace Prize, Mahathir quipped: "I'm not so noble."

He alleged that his party Bersatu's poor showing in the 14th general election was due to the electoral fraud committed by the Election Commission (EC).

Mahathir is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during the latter's brief stopover in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

Najib dodges 1MDB queries

Earlier, Najib withdrew his three-year-old defamation suit against DAP's Tony Pua and a portal owner over comments linking him with 1MDB.

Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) CEO Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad said the fund has been receiving prompt payments for its RM4 billion loan to SRC International, a subsidiary of 1MDB.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang urged attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali, who cleared Najib of any wrongdoing in the 1MDB scandal, to resign honourably before he gets sacked.
