The MACC has urged businessperson Low Taek Jho and lawyer Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil to assist their investigations into SRC International Sdn Bhd.

The MACC described Nik Faisal as a director of SRC International. He was the CEO at the time SRC International was established in 2011 as a subsidiary to 1MDB.

Low, better known as Jho Low, was believed to be a key figure in 1MDB.

Both have previously been described as having close ties to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The duo has been sought by the authorities since investigations into both companies began in 2015. They are believed to be abroad.

SRC International was set up as a strategic investment company for the energy sector. Like 1MDB, it relied on heavy loans to get started.

SRC International raised RM4 billion in two tranches from Retirement Fund Incorporated (Kwap). Little has been said about the returns from the company's investments.

On May 30, Malaysiakini reported that SRC International was insolvent and that the Finance Ministry, and hence the taxpayers, was servicing the loan from Kwap.
