Bakri MP tracks down 'RM500 donor', holds buka puasa with him

Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin has managed to track down the supporter who donated RM500 to her during campaigning period for the 14th general election - and she feted the 'pakcik' to a breaking of fast do.

The DAP lawmaker posted on Facebook: "Remember the 'pakcik' who donated RM500 to Pakatan Harapan in Parit Sakai? My office finally got in touch with him. He is Imam Baharudin Jono (on Yeo's left in picture above). Yesterday we broke fast with him, his wife, grandchildren and friends."

During campaigning period for the election last month, Yeo had taken to Facebook to relate the incident, where the man, donning a kopiah (skull cap), green baju Melayu and slippers, had approached her after a talk in Parit Sakai in Muar, and handed a green packet with the money inside for campaign use.

She said she was "shocked" with the gift, as Parit Sakai was an average-income area and that much of money was considered "huge".

According to her, the money in the green packet also did not look like new notes withdrawn from the ATM, but rather well-worn notes that looked like it had been folded and kept for a long time.

However, she had then apologised for not having taken down the man's name and details.
