Jho Low raps Dr M

Fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho, a central figure in the 1MDB scandal, accused Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of hijacking the legal proceedings on the seizure of the superyacht Equanimity, which was first initiated by the US.

In response to Low's accusation, Mahathir joked that he must be "greater than US President Donald Trump".

Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said several government agencies are guarding the superyacht.

Apart from bringing back the Equanimity, which was allegedly acquired by Jho Low using misappropriated 1MDB funds, Putrajaya is also seeking Jho Low's private jet from Singapore, which was impounded by the city-state.

Harapan and Najib spar over 'free money'

Mahathir blamed the previous BN government under Najib Abdul Razak of "conditioning" Malaysians to rely on "free money".

Najib said his policies were not "free money" but a redistribution of proceeds from the rich to the poor through the goods and services tax (GST).

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said it was because the GST burdened the poor that the people voted the BN government out.

Najib demanded that Lim proves he stands for the poor, claiming that the abolition of the GST would only help tax evasion among the wealthy.

DAP chair is special envoy to China

DAP chairperson Tan Kok Wai was appointed the speci al envoy to China.

The DAP said it will announce its candidate for the Balakong by-election in a couple of days.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry does not discriminate the LGBT community in terms of providing healthcare.

The company in a tussle over land with the Kelantan Orang Asli community claimed it was the "victim" of an "illegal blockade".
