The Pakatan Harapan government has postponed 278 projects and cancelled one totalling RM1.772 billion since coming to power, according to the Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin, in a parliamentary written reply, added that 4,667 more projects worth RM44.28 billion which are being funded from the development expenditure for 2018, will proceed.

Opposition leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had asked Azmin to state the projects which the new government had cancelled.

Azmin said people-centric and high impact projects were retained while those postponed or cancelled were mostly mega projects which is not a priority for now as the existing infrastructure can support the people's needs.

He added that the Finance Ministry had also outlined a number of principles in the reviewing of projects.

He said projects for which letter of the award has not been issued are postponed or cancelled.

Meanwhile, projects worth RM20 million or lesser, for which letter of awards has been issued, may proceed.

However, if the project is worth more than RM10 million, it must be reviewed by the Contract Coordination Panel if the construction progress is under 15 percent.
