A caricature portraying former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak as a clown has made a cameo appearance in a K-Pop music video.

The caricature by graphic artist Fahmi Reza can be spotted in the background of some scenes in the music video for "Falling in Love" by Korean singers Woo Jin Young and Kim Hyun Soo.

An amused Fahmi commented on Twitter, asking if the Korean artists knew that the caricature is of Najib.

"An anti-corruption protest symbol from Malaysia could somehow make its way into a K-pop video," he added.

The music video has been viewed over 450,000 times at the time of writing.

Fahmi was charged in June last year, under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA), for posting the caricature along with the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) logo.

In February, he was sentenced to a month in jail and an RM30,000 fine.

The jail term was postponed pending appeal, while the artist crowdfunded the amount needed to pay the fine.

Fahmi had previously filed a legal challenge against the constitutionality of the CMA in his bid to strike out the charge against him.

Last January, the Kuala Lumpur High Court allowed Fahmi's application, but the Federal Court later set aside the ruling on the grounds that the case was not properly brought before it, and should, therefore, be remitted back to the Sessions Court.
