The Johor Bersatu Youth wing lodged a police report today over several Facebook accounts that allegedly carried defamatory and provocative statements and false news about Johor Menteri Besar Osman Sapian.

Kota Tinggi Bersatu Youth chief Shaiful Rizal Mohd Salleh made the report at the Johor Bahru central police station at 9.30am.

“We are concerned about the defamatory and provocative statements on the FB accounts that have targeted Osman Sapian and made personal attacks against his family,” Shaiful told reporters at the Bersatu office in Johor Bahru.

He said the police report was made to remind social media users not to defame or insult any individual.

“The people always have the room and opportunity to have a dialogue with any leader and provocations such as these must be rejected.

“We firmly state our stand and will continue to stand firm with the menteri besar and all other Pakatan Harapan leaders,” Shaiful added.

Johor police chief Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd, when contacted, confirmed getting the police report and said the case would be investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
