Carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan has challenged Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor to face him in court instead of instructing their lawyers to strike out his suits.

Claiming to possess sufficient documentary as well as audio and visual evidence with regard to the two suits he filed against the couple, he revealed plans to file more suits against Najib in the coming weeks.

"Please instruct your (Najib and Rosmah) lawyers not to apply to strike out the suits.

"Let's fight it out in court since nowadays both of you (Najib and Rosmah) are frequent visitors to the courts," he told Malaysiakini.

Deepak was responding to an FMT report, which quoted Najib as stating that he and Rosmah had instructed their lawyers to challenge the suits filed by Deepak.

The businessperson had accused the couple of causing him to lose millions of ringgit worth of land as well as forcing him to take some RM200 million in loans.

Defaulting on the loans, Deepak claimed that he was forced to sell several condominium units at a lower price.

However, Najib described the accusations as "a complete fabrication, an afterthought and baseless".

"His accusations against us are illogical and nothing more than an attempt to cast aspersions against us through the filing of these civil suits," he said, vowing the suits would be "vigorously" opposed.

It was reported that Deepak had filed two suits. The first concerned a RM676 million land deal in Bukit Raja supposedly for the construction of the National Defence Study Centre.

The second suit against five people involved a total of RM52.6 million, RM20 million of which concerned Najib and Rosmah.

Meanwhile, Deepak also challenged Najib and Rosmah to "return the RM100 billion" which he accused the couple of "stealing" from the nation.

"I will withdraw the suits (against the couple) as part of my service to the nation if they return the RM100 billion," he said.
